Growing Instructions – Micro Dwarf Tomato Double Pack

Ideal for: Pots, patios, balconies, windowsills and greenhouses
Sowing
Sow seeds indoors from February to April, approximately 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost. Seeds can also be sown later in the year when growing indoors with plenty of light.
Sow 5–6 mm deep in moist seed compost. Keep warm at around 18–24°C until germination. Germination usually takes around 7–14 days.
Once seedlings have developed their first true leaves, transplant individually into small pots and grow on somewhere warm and bright.
Planting & Pot Size
These varieties have been specially bred to remain extremely compact and are excellent for container growing.
Once established, transplant into their final pots. A 15–20 cm pot is sufficient for a compact plant, although using a slightly larger pot will generally give the roots more room and can improve growth and yield.
Grow one plant per pot for best results.
Tiny Tim typically reaches around 30–45 cm tall, while Venus is particularly compact, usually around 15–30 cm tall.
If growing outdoors, gradually harden plants off before moving them outside permanently. Plant outside only once the risk of frost has passed.
Position & Care
Place plants in a warm, sunny position with as much direct sunlight as possible. A sunny windowsill, greenhouse, conservatory, patio or balcony is ideal.
Keep the compost evenly moist but not waterlogged. Container-grown tomatoes can dry out quickly during warm weather, so check them regularly.
Once flowering and fruiting begins, feed periodically with a tomato fertiliser to encourage a good crop.
No Pruning Required
Unlike tall cordon tomatoes, Tiny Tim and Venus are determinate micro dwarf varieties. There is no need to remove side shoots or pinch them out – allow the plants to develop naturally.
Their compact habit also means they generally require little or no support, although heavily laden branches can occasionally benefit from a small cane or support.
Harvesting
Both varieties are early cropping and can produce impressive numbers of tomatoes for such tiny plants.
Tiny Tim produces small, sweet red cherry tomatoes.
Venus produces attractive yellow to golden-orange cherry tomatoes with a sweet, juicy flavour.
Pick regularly as the fruits reach their mature colour to encourage continued ripening.
