BG Green Mustard is a striking superhot chilli discovered by Brandon Joy from the original BBG Red seed mix offered by Townsend Chilli & Spice. The distinctive mustard-coloured phenotype has continued to produce the same characteristic colour in subsequent grow-outs.
The BG/BBG name refers to “Bubblegum”, a group of chillies famous for their unusual colour bleeding from the pod up through the large calyx and into the stem. BG Green Mustard displays this trait beautifully, with pods ripening from green to an unusual mustard colour accompanied by visible colour bleed through the oversized calyx.
Its parentage of 7 Pot Yellow × Moruga Scorpion gives it serious superhot credentials. The pods have a rounded, heavily textured appearance and are produced on green-leaved plants with white flowers.
Despite the formidable heat, the peppers are reported to have a fruity flavour profile, making this an interesting variety for experienced superhot growers as well as collectors looking for unusual Bubblegum genetics.
