White Pepper (Belyy Peretc) Tomato Seeds – 10 Seeds

Grow something truly unusual with White Pepper (Belyy Peretc), a fascinating heritage-style tomato variety producing beautiful, creamy-white fruits that resemble sweet peppers.

Known by its Russian name Belyy Peretc, meaning “White Pepper”, this distinctive tomato stands out for its unusual appearance, delicate colouring and excellent culinary versatility.

The fruits develop into attractive, slightly ribbed, blocky or pepper-shaped tomatoes, typically weighing approximately 70–120g. Their smooth skins ripen to a beautiful pale cream or light ivory-yellow colour, creating a striking contrast against the plant’s green foliage.

Unlike traditional round tomatoes, White Pepper produces fruits with thick, fleshy walls and relatively hollow interiors. This unusual characteristic makes them especially suitable for stuffing with rice, cheese, vegetables or meat before baking.

The flavour is pleasantly mild and sweet, with a gentle tomato tang. The fruits can also be enjoyed fresh in salads, sliced into sandwiches or used to create colourful culinary presentations.

Plants exhibit vigorous, tall-growing habits and can produce impressive harvests when provided with suitable support and growing conditions.

Whether you’re a collector of unusual tomato varieties or simply enjoy growing something different for the kitchen, White Pepper is an exciting addition to any tomato collection.

Growing Instructions

Sowing: Sow seeds indoors between February and April, approximately 6–8 weeks before the intended planting-out date. Sow 5mm deep in good-quality seed compost and maintain a temperature of 20–25°C. Growing On: Once seedlings have developed their first true leaves, transplant into individual pots and grow in a bright, warm position. Planting Out: Transfer to a greenhouse, polytunnel or sheltered outdoor location once all risk of frost has passed. Plant Care: Provide sturdy supports for the tall-growing plants. Grow as cordon tomatoes, removing side shoots regularly to encourage healthy fruit development. Feeding: Water consistently and begin feeding with a suitable high-potassium tomato fertiliser once the first fruit truss has set. Harvesting: Pick fruits when they have developed their characteristic creamy-white to pale yellow colour and feel slightly yielding to the touch.
