F4 Sweet Italy Yellow × (Bleeding Rawit White × Oda) Chilli Seeds
A fascinating F4 experimental chilli cross created by Indonesian breeder Agus Bangkat Widagdo, well known for producing unusual and highly decorative chilli crosses.
This line combines Sweet Italy Yellow with Bleeding Rawit White × Oda, bringing together very different genetics and creating a chilli with some seriously unusual characteristics.
The standout feature is the massive calyx. On our plants, the calyces became exceptionally large and extended down over the shoulders of the pods, producing the distinctive “bleeding” effect inherited from the breeding line.
The original breeding direction was expected to show more purple-to-red pod colouration, particularly from the Bleeding Rawit White × Oda side of the cross. However, our current F4 selection produced striking yellow to golden-orange pods, showing just how much genetic variation is still present.
Pod shape also varied considerably, with some fruits developing long and tapered while others were shorter and broader. This makes the line especially interesting for growers who enjoy selecting unusual phenotypes.
This is an F4 line and is not fully stable. Plants grown from these seeds may vary in:
- Pod colour
- Pod shape and size
- Plant habit
- Calyx size
- Calyx colour
- Strength of the bleeding effect
Some plants may move back towards purple or red fruit, while others may continue producing yellow/orange pods or potentially show entirely new combinations.
That variation is part of the appeal. Grow several plants, select your favourite phenotype and save seed to continue developing the line in your own direction.
