Aunt Ruby’s German Green Tomato Seeds – 10 Fresh Seeds 🍅💚

Aunt Ruby’s German Green is a celebrated heirloom beefsteak tomato, prized for its unusual green-ripe fruits and outstanding flavour.

The large, slightly flattened fruits remain predominantly green as they mature, developing softer yellow-green tones and often a subtle amber blush when fully ripe. Slice one open and the flesh is beautifully juicy and green.

Its flavour is the real attraction: rich, sweet, fruity and complex, with enough acidity to keep it beautifully balanced. It is an excellent choice for tomato growers looking for something genuinely different from the usual red varieties.

Plants have an indeterminate/vining growth habit and benefit from sturdy support. Given good conditions, they produce impressive crops of large beefsteak-style tomatoes throughout the season.

Growing Guide 🌱

Sowing: Sow indoors from February to April, approximately 5 mm deep in moist seed compost.

Germination: Keep warm at approximately 20–25°C. Germination commonly takes around 7–14 days.

Growing on: Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant individually into small pots. Grow somewhere bright and warm.

Planting out: Move into a greenhouse, large containers or a sunny sheltered outdoor position once the danger of frost has passed.

Support: Aunt Ruby’s German Green is an indeterminate variety, so provide canes, strings or another strong support. Regularly remove side shoots when growing as a cordon.

Feeding: Once the first fruits begin to form, feed regularly with a suitable tomato fertiliser and maintain consistent watering.

Harvest: The fruits remain green when ripe, so don't wait for them to turn red! Look for a slight yellow/amber blush and a little softness when gently squeezed.
