Lemon Jay’s Superhot Chilli Seeds – 10 Seeds
Looks Like a Lemon. Burns Like a Dragon! 🍋🔥
Don’t let the beautiful lemon-yellow colour fool you! Lemon Jay’s is a striking and unusual superhot chilli that combines an almost luminous yellow appearance with the menacing, twisted shape of a seriously hot pepper.
Producing elongated, heavily wrinkled and irregularly shaped pods, Lemon Jay’s stands out among traditional red, orange and yellow superhot varieties. Its distinctive pale lemon colouring makes it particularly appealing to chilli collectors and enthusiasts looking for something a little different.
A Rare and Unusual Superhot
Lemon Jay’s is an uncommon variety within the specialist chilli-growing community. Its name may be connected to American chilli breeder Jay Weaver, famous for developing Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion, although the precise origins and parentage of Lemon Jay’s have not been confirmed.
The fruits develop from green to a beautiful pale lemon-yellow when ripe, often displaying deeply textured skin, twisted bodies and pointed tips.
Extreme Heat Behind a Beautiful Colour
Despite its delicate colouring, Lemon Jay’s is grown as a superhot chilli. Its exact Scoville rating has not been independently established, so it is best treated with the same respect as other extremely hot varieties.
These unusual peppers are ideal for experienced chilli enthusiasts who enjoy growing rare varieties and experimenting with small quantities of superhot fruit in homemade sauces, powders and chilli creations.
Growing Lemon Jay's Chilli Peppers
As with most superhot chillies, Lemon Jay's benefits from an early start, consistent warmth and a long growing season.
For the best results in the UK, grow in a greenhouse, polytunnel or warm, sheltered environment.
Start seeds indoors in January–March using a heated propagator, maintaining temperatures around 27–30°C. Once established, transplant into larger containers and provide plenty of light, warmth and regular feeding.
