Borg 9 Red is a good one for the site — proper UK-bred superhot with an interesting pedigree. The most consistent sources trace it to UK grower Jon Harper, as a cross between 7 Pot Bubblegum × Naglah, the Naglah itself having Bhut Jolokia and 7 Pot Douglah genetics. Sources generally describe it as 1,000,000+ SHU, but there doesn’t appear to be a reliable official laboratory rating, so I wouldn’t advertise an exact 1.5–1.6 million figure as fact.

Don’t let the attractive pods fool you. Borg 9 Red is brutally hot, commonly described as exceeding 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units. Behind the heat is a surprisingly good flavour, with fruity sweetness alongside the earthy, slightly smoky character associated with Ghost-type chillies.

An excellent choice for experienced chilli growers and collectors looking for something with a genuine UK breeding history. The pods are particularly suited to extremely hot sauces, chilli powders and flakes.
