Striped Stuffer is a fascinating tomato developed especially for stuffing. The attractive striped fruits have a relatively hollow interior with much of the seed and pulp concentrated around the central core, allowing them to be prepared much like a sweet pepper.

The colourful fruits are both ornamental and practical, with firm walls that hold their shape well when filled and baked. They can also be sliced fresh into salads. An unusual and highly useful tomato for anyone who enjoys experimenting in the kitchen.

🌱 Growing Guide – Striped Stuffer Tomato

Sowing: February–April
Germination: 7–14 days
Germination Temperature: 18–25°C
Sowing Depth: Approx. 5 mm
Position: Full sun
Planting Out: May–June, after all risk of frost
Spacing: 45–60 cm
Harvest: July–October

Sow seeds indoors into trays, modules or small pots filled with good-quality moist seed compost. Cover lightly with approximately 5 mm of compost and keep warm at 18–25°C until germination.

Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant individually into small pots and grow on somewhere bright and warm. Pot on as necessary as the plants develop.

After all risk of frost has passed, plant into a greenhouse, polytunnel, large container or warm sheltered position outdoors in full sun. Striped Stuffer is an indeterminate variety, so provide sturdy support using canes, strings or a tomato cage as the plants grow.

Water regularly and keep moisture levels as consistent as possible. Once the first fruits have set, begin feeding regularly with a suitable tomato fertiliser. Tie the main stem to its support and remove side shoots if growing as a cordon.

Harvest when the fruits have developed their distinctive red colouring with golden-yellow stripes and are firm but fully ripe.
