Etna is an attractive Italian hot pepper named after Mount Etna, the famous volcano in Sicily. The compact, productive plants develop numerous small, upright-growing chillies that mature from green to a vivid red.
The combination of upright fruits and heavy cropping makes Etna an attractive ornamental plant as well as a useful culinary chilli. The ripe peppers provide a good punchy heat and can be used fresh in cooking or dried for homemade chilli flakes and powder. Its relatively compact growth also makes Etna an excellent choice for growing in pots and containers.
