Yin Yang Bean Growing Guide
Yin Yang Beans, also known as
Orca Beans or
Calypso Beans, are compact dwarf French bean plants that produce attractive green pods and distinctive black-and-white beans. They are easy to grow in containers, raised beds or garden borders and do not require climbing supports.
Sowing
Sow indoors from
April to May, or sow directly outdoors from
mid-May to June once the risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed.
- Sow seeds approximately 2–3cm deep.
- For indoor sowing, place one seed per small pot.
- Keep the compost moist but not waterlogged.
- Maintain a temperature of around 18–25°C.
- Germination usually takes 7–14 days.
Planting Out
Gradually acclimatise indoor-grown plants to outdoor conditions before planting out after the final frost.
