🐉 The Ultimate Kitchen Garden Collection

If you could have just one tin of seeds to start a kitchen garden, we’d want it to be this one.

We’ve brought together 16 of our favourite edible varieties and mixes, combining familiar kitchen essentials with some of the more unusual varieties that make growing your own genuinely exciting.

You’ll find everything from colourful carrots, salad leaves and spring onions to Yin Yang beans, purple-podded peas, White Egg aubergines, Purple Tomatillos and Romanesco cauliflower.

There’s even a Thai chilli, lemon-scented basil and a productive red cherry tomato for bringing some serious flavour into the kitchen.

Each variety is supplied in its own individually labelled seed sachet — the seeds are not mixed together.

More than just seeds

We’ve designed this as a complete little kitchen-garden experience, rather than simply putting sixteen packets of seed into a tin.

Inside you’ll also receive 16 wooden plant markers, so every variety can be labelled as you sow it, together with a pencil and a fun carrot flexi keychain.

There’s also a Red Dragon Seeds Start Here card giving access to our online Kitchen Garden Growing Guide, where you can find more detailed advice for growing the different crops in the collection.

A brilliant gift for gardeners

With such a broad mixture of crops, there’s something to grow throughout much of the season.

It’s a great introduction for someone starting their first edible garden, but we’ve deliberately included enough unusual varieties to make the collection interesting for experienced growers too.

Grow them in a traditional vegetable garden, raised beds, containers, greenhouse or a mixture of all four.

Sow. Grow. Harvest. Enjoy. 🐉

Growing guide

Sowing: Sow indoors from February to April, approximately 5 mm deep in a good-quality seed compost. Germination: Keep warm at approximately 20–25°C. Maintain gentle moisture without waterlogging the compost and provide plenty of light once seedlings emerge. Growing on: Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant individually into small pots. Keep in a bright, warm position and pot on as required. Transplanting: Move plants into their final growing positions once they are well established and the risk of frost has passed. Harden off plants gradually before planting outdoors. Position: Grow in a sunny, sheltered position. Suitable varieties can be grown in greenhouses, containers, raised beds, borders or hanging baskets depending on their growth habit. Watering & feeding: Water consistently, particularly once plants begin flowering and setting fruit. Feed regularly with a suitable tomato fertiliser once fruit begins to develop. Support: Taller varieties will require stakes, canes or strings for support. Compact micro dwarf varieties need considerably less support, while Tumbling Tom Orange is suited to trailing from containers and baskets. Harvest: Pick fruits as they reach their characteristic mature colour. Harvest periods vary by variety and growing conditions.
