Rocoto peppers are a type of chili pepper that originates from South America and are the Capsicum Pubescens variety. The peppers are typically round oblong pear shaped, about 1.5 inches in length. They have a very distinctive appearance with a deep red colour and a wrinkled skin. Rocoto are medium spice, with a heat level that is comparable to jalapeños. What is unique about the Rocoto in the pepper world is that they produce black seeds.
