🌱 Approx. 500 Seeds in Total
📦 Approx. 100 Seeds of Each Variety

🌿 Traditional & Heirloom Varieties

Grow a wonderfully varied selection of traditional cabbages with our Heirloom Cabbage Seed Collection. This collection contains five distinctive varieties selected to provide a fantastic range of colours, shapes, textures and culinary uses.

Unlike a mixed packet of seeds, each variety is supplied in its own individually labelled sachet, with approximately 100 seeds per variety. This makes it easy to identify each cabbage and sow the varieties separately or at different times throughout the growing season.

🥬 The collection contains:
🇮🇹 Cuor di Bue Grosso – A traditional Italian pointed cabbage producing distinctive heart-shaped heads with tender green leaves and an excellent flavour.
❤️ Koda Red Cabbage – An attractive red cabbage producing compact heads with richly coloured red-purple leaves. Excellent for salads, slaws, cooking and pickling.
🇫🇷 Aubervilliers Savoy – A traditional French Savoy cabbage with beautifully crinkled green leaves and substantial heads. Hardy and excellent for autumn and winter dishes.
🥬 Brunswick White Cabbage – A classic traditional cabbage producing large, dense, rounded heads. A versatile variety suitable for fresh eating, cooking, coleslaw and sauerkraut.
🥢 Granaat Chinese Cabbage – A productive Chinese cabbage producing elongated heads of crisp, tender leaves. Excellent for stir-fries, salads and Asian-inspired dishes.
With approximately 500 seeds across 5 separate sachets, this collection is ideal for allotments, vegetable gardens and anyone wanting to grow a diverse selection of traditional cabbage varieties.

Growing Guide – Heirloom Cabbage Seed Collection

🌱 Sowing: Sow seeds thinly in trays, modules or a prepared seed bed. Most varieties can be started from late winter through spring, although exact sowing times vary by variety. 🌡️ Germination: Keep seed compost moist but not waterlogged. Seeds generally germinate within 7–14 days under suitable conditions. 🌿 Transplanting: When seedlings are large enough to handle and have developed several true leaves, gradually harden them off before planting outdoors. 📏 Spacing: Allow approximately 40–50cm between most European cabbage plants. Granaat Chinese Cabbage can generally be planted more closely at around 30–40cm apart. ☀️ Position: Grow in full sun to light partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil. 💧 Watering: Water regularly, particularly during dry weather. Consistent moisture encourages strong growth and well-formed heads. 🌿 Feeding: Cabbages are hungry plants. Prepare the ground with well-rotted organic matter and apply a balanced vegetable fertiliser where required. 🐛 Pest Protection: Protect young plants from slugs and snails and watch for cabbage white butterfly caterpillars, aphids and flea beetles. Fine insect mesh can provide useful protection. 🥬 Harvesting: Harvest once heads have reached a useful size and feel firm. Harvest times vary between varieties and according to sowing date and growing conditions. 💡 Tip: Because all five varieties are individually packed, you can stagger sowings rather than planting the entire collection at once, helping to extend your harvest.
