Black Nebula Carrot Seeds – 100 Fresh Seeds

Black Nebula is an extraordinary dark-coloured carrot producing long roots with exceptionally deep purple pigmentation extending through much of the flesh. Unlike many purple carrots that have an orange or yellow centre, Black Nebula is grown specifically for its intensely coloured roots.

The dramatic carrots have a good sweet flavour and are excellent eaten fresh, roasted or used to add colour to salads and cooked dishes. Their intense natural pigmentation can also colour juices and other recipes. Grow in deep, stone-free soil for the straightest and best-developed roots.

Species: Daucus carota
Type: Purple Carrot
Root Colour: Very dark purple
Best For: Fresh eating, roasting, salads and juicing

🌱 Black Nebula Carrot – Growing Guide

Sowing: March–July
Germination: 10–21 days
Germination Temperature: 10–25°C
Sowing Depth: 0.5–1 cm
Plant Spacing: 5–8 cm
Row Spacing: 25–30 cm
Position: Full sun
Harvest: June–October, approximately 12–16 weeks from sowing

How to Grow:
Sow seeds thinly and directly outdoors into finely prepared, stone-free soil. Carrots dislike root disturbance, so direct sowing is preferable to transplanting. Cover with around 0.5–1 cm of fine soil and water gently.

Keep the soil consistently moist during germination, which can take 10–21 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin gradually to around 5–8 cm apart, allowing enough room for the long roots to develop properly.

Keep the bed weed-free and water during prolonged dry periods. Avoid freshly manured ground or excessive nitrogen, as this can encourage forked or misshapen roots.

Harvest from around 12–16 weeks, although roots can be left longer to develop further. Lift carefully with a fork if the soil is firm.

🥕 Harvest Tip: Black Nebula is particularly striking when sliced — unlike many purple carrots, its colour runs deep purple/red through the flesh rather than having an orange centre, making it superb for colourful salads, roasting and presentation.
